Our History
Every ounce of data confirms that for children of underserved communities, teaching courses with their historical context in mind leads to a more successful program. At Muhammad University, every history class is taught through the lens of the original inhabitants of the Earth. In fact, every class is taught with an eye toward history and the many contributions Original people have made to the world. In so doing, students find many connections, seeing themselves in history for the first time.
At MUI, we don’t celebrate Black History Month. We study Black History every single day.

Astronomy & Earth Science
Throughout the Scriptures of the Holy Quran and Bible, Almighty God places a consistent focus on the enormous beauty and majesty of the heavens above. Many ancient African civilizations from Egypt (Kemet) to Mali gave ample attention to the stars.
Similarly, The Honorable Elijah Muhammad stated that all of His teaching could be understood in astronomy. Students at the University of Islam learn astronomical facts and figures, and take courses in the Astronomical Sciences - beginning with a thorough study of our home planet, Earth.
Islam, Indigenous People, and Astronomy have always been intimately connected. We bring that connection up to date.

The Nutritional Science of How to Eat to Live
Students Grade 2-12 are enrolled in a unique, one-of-a-kind Nutritional Science Course based upon the teaching of How to Eat To Live. This course has been uniquely designed to help children identify foods they should and should not eat; and, how to preserve their life from a young age onward.
As poor dietary choices limit human potential, we believe with the right information, our children can make the choices necessary to unlock their limitless potential.

Penmanship & Art
Although the current era of technological advancement has devalued manual learning such as writing - scholarly evidence points toward handwriting as an instrumental learning device. Therefore, we have not abandoned traditional writing courses nor hand-drawn art. Students at most grade levels take a independent course to develop and improve cursive and manuscript handwriting.
After all, handwriting and artistic drawings are two of the oldest and greatest evidences of the intellectual growth of humanity. At MUI, handwriting is here to stay.

Biology & The Science of Self
Too frequently, Biology, or the Study of Life, is taught in abstraction - separate from the magnificent body that God has gifted us with. As students learn Biology at the University of Islam, they learn through the lens of their existence first - as they seek to study the many nuances of creation. Most importantly, biological sciences at Muhammad University of Islam do not negate the role of Allah (God) in the creative and evolutionary processes.
We put God first - in everything.

Applicable Mathematics
As Mathematics is the basis for building civilization, we find it imperative that students have strong mathematical performance - well beyond their grade level. However, we believe mathematical computations are best when applicable. Therefore, math courses at Muhammad University begin with practical application and move into theoretical principles.
